Ingrowing Toenails

An Ingrowing Toenail is where part of the nail curves round and grows into the surrounding skin.

This normally happens to the big toe and can often lead to a painful toe which can bleed and become pussy.

All diabetics should see a podiatrist or doctor if this happens.

For most people if there is pus present and not too uncomfortable then magnesium sulphate past is useful in drawing out the infection.  Cover with a Softpore dressing and leave for at least 12 hours

It is important when cutting the nails that they are cut straight and not follow the curve.

If the condition doesn't resolve or becomes more painful then a visit to the GP or podiatrist is necessary.
