Flu levels in hospitals very high

In the media this week there are reports of very high flu levels in hospitals. This is based on figures collected by Public Health England. These figures suggest that this could be the worst flu season in seven years, however, Public Health England also state that this is not unprecedented.

Protecting yourself from flu

So what can you do to protect yourself? The best protection against flu is vaccination. This will help reduce the strain on the NHS. We offer this in all of our pharmacies. You can book an appointment online. We offer NHS vaccination to those who are eligible. This includes those who are over 65 years age, unpaid carers, pregnant women and those with certain long-term conditions. We can treat other people on a private basis.

You can also reduce your risk of flu by effective hand washing. The poster shows the hand washing technique used by NHS staff. Make sure that everyone in your family washes their hands effectively including children.
