Pharmacy First / Minor Ailments Program
What is this scheme?
Minor Ailments/Pharamcy Fist are schemes that some of our pharmacies are now able to offer. This means that you can get advice, treatment or medicines for common less serious illnesses from a community pharmacy, without having to make an appointment with your GP.
The conditions covered are:
- Athlete’s foot
- Bacterial conjunctivitis
- Dental Pain
- Hay Fever
- Head Lice
- Insect bites/stings
- Sore throat
Do I need to pay?
If you don’t normally pay for your prescription charges, then any medicines supplied (if deemed appropriate) under the Pharmacy First Scheme will be free.
No treatment can be provided for children of less than three months of age.
The patient must be present for the consultation to take place.
This is a confidential, high quality service, designed to meet the needs of the patient.
Please see shop details to ensure that the pharmacy you are visiting can offer this service.
